Absolutely not. A house gains character precisely by combining personal items and heirlooms with new design. I critically examine what you already have: what's precious and what fits into the new plan? We integrate your favorite pieces so it truly feels like your home, not a showroom.

My partner and I have completely different tastes. Is that okay?

This is one of the most common reasons people hire me. You can't reach an agreement together, and that's why nothing happens. I act as a guide and objective third party. I find the common thread in your desires and weave them together into a harmonious whole that you both recognize.

How does the pricing structure work? Will I encounter any unexpected costs?

I value clarity, just like you. That's why I work with fixed packages per room and clearly defined phases. You know exactly what the design will cost upfront. No vague hourly billing structures, but a transparent investment in a plan you'll enjoy for years to come.

Family home in Amsterdam

For this family in Amsterdam-Sloten, I was asked to collaborate on their unique urban villa, nestled in greenery. A unique house with the kitchen downstairs and the living room upstairs—a layout that immediately calls for thoughtful choices and a strong, cohesive atmosphere. Downstairs, a striking red kitchen dominated the space; an element the family struggled with. They wondered if this floor could ever become a peaceful, inviting space.

My goal was to bring the tranquility of the surrounding nature indoors. I approached the generous windows as natural works of art: frames that frame the lush greenery outside as if they were paintings. By subtly coordinating colors, materials, and sightlines, the interior merges with the exterior, creating a calm, balanced whole.
Personal elements were also given a loving place.

I had the family heirlooms—a set of cherished chairs—reupholstered and carefully integrated into the new interior. This way, they not only contribute to the family's story but also create a stylish, warm addition to the space. The result is a house that exudes the tranquility of nature, but at the same time has the elegance of a modern city villa: a home where this family can now truly feel at home.

In this house in Weesp, I designed the entire living space for a young family who left the city for more space and tranquility. Their wish was clear: a warm, uncluttered home where everyone can find their own place. A home that feels calm from the moment you enter.

The foundation consists of soft hues, natural materials, and choices that all move in the same direction. The interior is deliberately thought out, creating a sense of tranquility without becoming distant. From the outset, we worked on a perfect layout—open and light, yet welcoming.
The kitchen has been set back slightly, creating more air between cooking, seating, and dining. This shift brought balance to the whole and gave each zone a clear function, without sacrificing the openness.

In the living room, soft fabrics, a terracotta bench, and a custom-made wall unit with a wooden alcove create warmth and rhythm. Everything invites you to sit down, relax, and unwind.

The kitchen and dining area are designed as a natural extension of the living space. Calm fronts, a natural countertop, and existing chairs repositioned create a personal yet calming atmosphere. It doesn't feel like a separate space, but rather an organic part of the home.

The result is a living space that harmonizes. A place where rhythm, tranquility, and a sense of belonging come together.

This bathroom is designed as a bright, calm space where you can retreat for a moment. No excess or harsh contrasts, but softness, clarity, and comfort. Careful attention to the layout and use of materials gives the space a spacious and open feel, without actually requiring more space.

The freestanding bathtub takes center stage, instantly creating a calm focal point. The custom-made vanity unit is practical and sleek, with ample storage space to keep everything organized. Together, they create a balanced whole.

The base consists of soft gray tones, warm white, and a touch of beige. Wood details and subtle brass accents bring warmth and a natural refinement. The floor continues for a calm rhythm, while the lightly textured wall behind the bathtub adds a touch of depth.
The lighting has also been carefully coordinated for different times of day: functional lighting by the mirror, subtle recessed spotlights, and softer lighting around the bathtub. This makes the space flexible, from morning routine to evening relaxation.

The result is a bright, balanced bathroom where every choice comes together in a soft, tranquil atmosphere.

This office was designed as a space that feels professional, yet remains soft and inviting. The goal was to create a space that is calming, functional, and has a subtly feminine feel. A room where you can retreat, have conversations, or concentrate on work—all in an environment that feels close to you.

The foundation is warm and calm. Linen curtains softly filter the light, while light wood, natural accents, and a round table create a relaxed rhythm in the space. Everything supports a sense of focus without becoming harsh.
A custom-made cabinet, designed specifically for this room, runs along one wall. A combination of open and closed sections, integrated lighting, and ample storage keeps everything organized. The design is sleek, yet the materials used maintain a warm and accessible feel.

The office is flexible: suitable for a video meeting, a one-on-one conversation, or a moment of focused work. The space adapts to the demands of the day. Calm, thoughtful, and completely unique—exactly as it was intended.

For this new-build house in Weesp, I was invited to contribute ideas early on in the process, allowing us to make choices from the outset that create a sense of calm and cohesion. The residents' wish was clear: a warm, complete home that immediately felt comfortable, without loose ends or doubts. By carefully coordinating the layout, lighting plan, and materials, a clear foundation was created.

The living room is bright and open, yet feels inviting thanks to the use of soft hues and natural materials. A custom-made TV stand beautifully complements the lines of the room, giving the interior a sense of calm. In the dining area, existing chairs were repositioned at a table that complements the overall design, creating a balance between familiar and new.
The kitchen aligns seamlessly with this. Matte white fronts, a soft stone-tone countertop, and warm wood accents combine to create a balanced space. During the day, the light is abundant; in the evening, it creates a tranquil atmosphere where everything falls into place. The materials were carefully chosen: linen, wood, natural stone, and wool give the home a pleasant tactility and contribute to the overall sense of calm. The ground floor feels complete, not because there's a lot of furniture, but because the choices were made with the same philosophy in mind. The result is a home with space, tranquility, and a relaxed energy—a place where you naturally feel at home.

This newly built bedroom was designed as a soft, warm place to truly relax. Because I was involved in the project from the very beginning, we were able to coordinate the lighting and electrical fixtures directly with the design. This allowed us to make the room function exactly as intended—practical, atmospheric, and perfectly balanced.
The foundation is calm and understated, with materials that naturally evoke a sense of warmth. The custom-made headboard forms the heart of the space: made of warm wood, with integrated lighting and rounded lines that give the room an embracing feel. It brings structure and softness simultaneously.

The custom-made wardrobe complements this perfectly. The wardrobes are completely custom-made, and I designed the fronts. This gives the space authenticity and immediately adds personality. This way, a newly built space, which is naturally very sleek, gains character.

The walls are painted in a warm, grayish shade. The linen curtains immediately create a comfortable space; they filter the light peacefully and create a relaxing atmosphere. All the colors and materials flow seamlessly together, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The lighting is layered—basic lighting, reading light, and mood lighting around the bed—making the room easily adaptable to the time of day. The styling is deliberately kept simple, with a few accessories and understated artwork. This creates a bedroom that exudes tranquility yet feels personal: a place where you automatically relax the moment you enter.

Apartment in Amsterdam East

For this rental apartment in Amsterdam-Oost, I designed an interior for an expat living in the Netherlands for a few years. The wish was clear: a calm, uncluttered space that immediately feels familiar, yet remains flexible enough for a temporary stay. Because it's a rental, walls and floors couldn't be altered. Therefore, the ambiance had to come entirely from the furniture, materials, and furnishings.

The design's foundation revolves around soft, neutral tones and warm woods, combined with shapes that create airiness and openness. Everything contributes to a pleasant whole, without anything becoming overly prominent.

The seating area is bright and uncluttered. Comfortable, airy furniture keeps the space open, while a low dresser along the wall adds calm and structure. The styling is deliberately understated: a subtle rug, a few accessories, and just the right amount of personal touches. The abundant natural light enhances the sense of calm.

Near the window, we created a subtle workspace—functional, but not overpowering. This space blends into the room, yet offers exactly what's needed for working or studying. The resident said: “I sit here more often than I thought, even if I just want to look out the window.”
A compact reading nook has been created at the back of the apartment, complete with an open shelving unit and a comfortable chair. Despite the limitations of a rental, this corner feels warm and personal and has become a favorite spot.

What's striking about this apartment is how small choices can have a big impact. The space remains bright and simple, yet feels distinctly personal. The result is a tranquil city apartment where an expat will quickly feel at home—practical for now, yet warm and inviting enough to truly settle in.

This Amsterdam canal-side home was completely renovated to create a peaceful, bright living environment. The residents, a couple of expats, wanted an interior that exudes tranquility but also invites people to come together: a place for daily life, guests, and dinners, without feeling crowded or cluttered.

We opted for a soft base of light wood, subdued colors, and natural materials. This combination gives the home an urban tranquility, while everything remains practical.
The kitchen is the heart of the home: open, uncluttered, and warm. Subtle fronts and a soft countertop create balance, while the layout invites lingering—at the table, the counter, or simply for a quick break.

In the sitting area, a fixed sofa against the wall and loose furniture create airiness and flexibility. The wooden floor and linen curtains create rhythm in the space. Art has been carefully chosen: present, but never overpowering.

Some of the furniture came from their previous home. By combining this with new custom work and a few targeted adjustments, an interior was created that feels personal yet looks fresh. The bookcase, the low bar, and the objects on the shelves give the whole a distinctive signature.

The home offers space for entertaining, but also feels like a place to retreat. Enjoy the morning light at the kitchen table, or relax with a book in the sitting area at the end of the day. During the process, the residents often said, "We can't wait to actually live here." Now they do—exactly as they envisioned.

Family home in Bussum

For this young family, moving from Amsterdam to Bussum marked a new chapter. After years in the city, they sought more space and tranquility and found a charming home full of character. The house had beautiful original features, but also presented a few challenges. One of these was the large ensuite door in the middle of the living room. While a beautiful detail, it unnecessarily disrupted the space. After careful consideration, we decided to remove it—a move that immediately brought airiness and cohesion.

The interior's foundation is light and warm, composed of natural white tones, an oak herringbone floor, and a rounded sofa in a soft fabric. The rounded shapes of the furniture and rug enhance the tranquility of the space. The stained glass adds color and character without making the overall space feel cluttered. The fireplace and firewood create a homely atmosphere that suits the family and their lifestyle.

The residents were looking for an interior that felt present but not overly styled: a place where life is lived and where their family can move freely. I incorporated this principle into all the choices, from materials to layout.

Because of the many windows, finding a logical layout was a puzzle, especially for the television. Ultimately, we opted for a custom-made unit that integrates the TV—a subtle solution that respects the symmetry of the room. The rounded shape complements the window beautifully and gives the space a soft, flowing line.
The kitchen creates a beautiful contrast with the living room: modern and sleek, with dark wood cabinets, a light-colored countertop, and handleless fronts. Black accents add a touch of depth to the space. Small artworks on the wall add a personal touch.

What made this project special was the collaboration. The residents were involved and knew exactly what atmosphere they were looking for. Together, we transformed this house into a home—bright, warm, and peaceful, a place that suits their daily lives and where everything comes together naturally.

Villa in Brabant

This spacious villa in Brabant presented a wonderful challenge: a house with varying heights, impressively high ceilings, and ample open space, yet lacking a clear sense of coherence. Sometimes you buy a house and become confused by the previous owners' interior; in this case, the interior was rustic and cluttered with many small items, making it difficult to see through it and come up with new ideas. I helped create a clear overview and visualize the possibilities of the spaces.

The existing kitchen was still of excellent quality, but its appearance didn't match the rest of the interior. Instead of a complete renovation, I opted for clever adjustments: a new countertop, a matching color for the backsplash and cabinets, and attractive bar stools, creating a pleasant breakfast area. The use of color really made a difference here and ensures that the kitchen now fits better into the overall look.

At the front of the house, there was a "blind spot," a place where nothing ever happened. We transformed this into a peaceful viewing area with two lounge chairs, facing the beautiful view of the Brabant countryside. This also gave this part of the house a clear purpose. The result is a home that now exudes peace, space, and balance, perfectly suited to the life of this young family.

Voor dit huis mocht ik meedenken aan een complete verbouwing. De woning had veel potentie, maar moest echt naar deze tijd worden gebracht. De bewoners vonden het lastig om onder woorden te brengen wat ze zelf mooi vonden, waardoor het traject vooral ging over samen ontdekken: wat past bij hen, wat voelt goed, wat maakt dit huis hun thuis? Door goed te luisteren en veel opties te verkennen, kreeg het ontwerp steeds meer richting.
De grootste verandering zat in de indeling. De gesloten keuken maakte plaats voor een open ruimte door de keukenmuur te verwijderen. Hierdoor ontstond lucht, licht en een fijn overzicht tussen koken, zitten en eten. Op basis hiervan ontwierp ik een nieuwe keuken — rustig, modern en in balans met de rest van het interieur.
Ook de vloer werd opnieuw gekozen: een lichte basis die de gehele verdieping optilt en het huis direct ruimtelijker maakt. Met deze fundering kon het ontwerp zich verder ontvouwen. Zachte kleuren, natuurlijke materialen en heldere lijnen zorgden voor rust, terwijl subtiele details de woning persoonlijker maakten.
De leefruimte is nu licht, open en uitnodigend. Alles sluit logisch op elkaar aan, zonder dat het strak of afstandelijk wordt. Het resultaat voelt als een frisse start: een huis dat klopt, en een interieur waarin de bewoners zich eindelijk herkennen.

For this villa in the Gooi region, I was asked to collaborate on an interior that blended two distinct tastes. The existing window treatments in soft beige tones were retained, providing a calm foundation upon which we could build. The residents each had their own style preferences: she favors an eclectic, slightly vintage look, while he feels more at home with a sleeker, Scandinavian approach. The challenge was to find a natural blend that felt right for both of them.
We started by selecting new dining chairs, including a beloved family heirloom that took pride of place within the overall design. By carefully coordinating materials, shapes, and colors, we created an interior that embodies both the personal and the timeless.
In each room, I considered what it needed to truly flourish: sometimes more warmth, sometimes more airiness, or simplicity. Through subtle choices in furniture, lighting, and accessories, the spaces now seamlessly connect without losing the residents' individual character. The result is a calm, modern base with playful vintage accents — a home where both styles complement rather than reinforce each other.

For this bedroom in the Gooi region, the desire was clear: a calm, warm space that feels comfortable from the moment you enter. A place that is bright, yet inviting. By working extensively with natural materials like oak, light curtains, and a soft rug, a tranquil base was created that immediately radiates warmth. The grain of the wood and the light textures of the upholstery give the room a relaxed rhythm, without feeling cluttered.
The character of the bedroom lies primarily in the back wall. Here, the vintage bedside tables, atmospheric lamps, and the deep blue hue come together. It creates a beautiful contrast with the light base and gives the room its own unique signature. The bedspread completes the look—subtle, yet just enough to give the space an inviting feel.

The result is a bedroom where tranquility and personality complement each other. A place where you can easily retreat and which, thanks to the customization and careful choices, is completely right for the residents.

For this B&B in Brabant, I was asked to brainstorm on a flexible interior: a holiday home for the family, which can be easily and comfortably rented out during breaks. The challenge was to create an atmosphere without major changes, as both the white walls and the existing floor had to remain. The design therefore had to be neutral, inviting, and vandal-proof—able to withstand a changing guest population, yet warm enough to feel like a personal space.

We chose furniture and furnishings that reflect the identity of the spaces. Soft fabrics, wooden details, and subtle hues create warmth, while the foundation remains light and calm. By using sustainable materials and sturdy finishes, everything retains its beauty, even with more intensive use.

The living room has a seating area that is easy to maintain, yet feels comfortable after a long day outdoors. In the dining area, a sturdy table with practical chairs creates a space where both the family and guests enjoy gathering. The whole has a homely feel without becoming overly personal.

In the bedrooms, we opted for neutral colors, comfortable beds, and durable textiles. Small accents, like lighting and accessories, add character without making it feel cluttered. This allows the spaces to remain flexible, suitable for both private and rental use.

The result is a holiday home that feels like a peaceful haven, yet is also practical for everyday use. An interior that transforms the emptiness of white walls into an inviting environment—purely through the right furniture, materials, and ambiance.

Restaurant Bomenpark

Restaurant Bomenpark is nestled in greenery, and you sense that immediately upon entering. Large windows, abundant light, and an interior that seamlessly blends in with its surroundings. The design is warm and open, with an atmosphere that feels just right—inviting, without being overbearing. I was involved in this project in several phases, allowing the interior to grow and refine step by step.

From the outset, the guiding principle was clear: to create a place where everyone feels comfortable. For morning coffee, a long lunch, or drinks with friends. The materials are natural and warm, the atmosphere relaxed yet refined. By working with different wood tones, soft fabrics, ceramics, and a color palette inspired by the outdoor landscape—grey-green, sand, warm wood, and black as an accent—the interior has a calming foundation that is always just right.

The seating is spacious and comfortable. Leather sofas in soft hues, chairs with rounded shapes, and tables that are slightly wider than usual. It feels open, but never empty; cozy, but not crowded. A loose mix of art and photography hangs along the walls—nature prints, line drawings, and understated images that breathe life into the space. Plants add height and a touch of life, without overwhelming the atmosphere.

At the heart of the restaurant is the bar. Robust, constructed of wood, steel, and stone. Above the bar, glasses and bottles float, both functional and beautiful. This enlivens the space while remaining in harmony with the rest of the interior.

Small details add warmth: bread boards on the shelves, logs by the fireplace, cushions on the sofas. No excess, but carefully chosen elements that give the space character.

What makes this project special is how everything comes together. The interior feels inviting and tranquil, with enough personality to truly fit Bomenpark. A place where you're drawn to linger—exactly the atmosphere we've been working towards in every phase.

Restaurant Bistro Louis

For Bistro Louis, I was asked to design a completely new space that initially lacked any character. The goal was an interior with a timeless feel—a blend of Parisian and old Dutch, warm enough to dine for entire evenings and cozy enough to instantly feel at ease. Because the base was so neutral, the emphasis was on customization and the choice of materials to define the restaurant's soul.

We opted for a lot of wood, both in the walls and furniture, which immediately gave the space warmth and depth. Custom-made benches, wood paneling, and a carefully designed bar create rhythm and a clear structure in the interior. Everything was designed to last without losing any of its charm.

A large wine cabinet is one of the most important elements in the space. Here, bottles and glasses are given a prominent place—not hidden, but visible, as part of the experience. It fits the atmosphere of long dinners, good conversations, and evenings that unfold slowly.
The combination of soft lighting, rounded shapes, and natural materials creates an intimate atmosphere without overshadowing the overall ambiance. The interior has a familiar feel, as if it's always been there, yet feels fresh and contemporary.

Bistro Louis has become a place where people love to linger: warm, inviting, and with a timeless feel that perfectly complements the cuisine and the restaurant's rhythm.

For Bar 15 in Brabant, I was asked to transform a characterless building into a traditional pub with a contemporary twist. The interior had to feel warm, inviting, and a touch nostalgic, but with a contemporary feel. Because the project was realized on a budget, it required a different approach than usual: creative shuffling, smart selection, and extensive use of vintage pieces.

The use of secondhand furniture required a unique selection process. Chairs, tables, and accessories were all chosen for their character and durability. Precisely because nothing matches perfectly, that creates that relaxed, authentic atmosphere that suits a modern neighborhood pub so well. The combination of old wood, weathered materials, and new custom work gives the bar a layered quality you won't easily find in a new-build home.

The starting point was to infuse the sleek, new shell with warmth and soul. Dark hues, soft lighting, and vintage accents create intimacy, while modern elements keep the overall look fresh. The bar itself forms the heart of the space: sturdy, functional, and with plenty of space to relax without looking heavy.

By consciously playing with contrasts—new and old, dark and light, raw and refined—Bar 15 has become a place where you quickly feel at ease. A bar that has a familiar feel, yet remains contemporary. The result is a friendly, inviting space where people enjoy drinks every day.

In the living room, soft fabrics, a terracotta bench, and a custom-made wall unit with a wooden alcove create warmth and rhythm. Everything invites you to sit down, relax, and unwind.

The kitchen and dining area are designed as a natural extension of the living space. Calm fronts, a natural countertop, and existing chairs repositioned create a personal yet calming atmosphere. It doesn't feel like a separate space, but rather an organic part of the home.

This bathroom is designed as a bright, calm space where you can retreat for a moment. No excess or harsh contrasts, but softness, clarity, and comfort. Careful attention to the layout and use of materials gives the space a spacious and open feel, without actually requiring more space.

The freestanding bathtub takes center stage, instantly creating a calm focal point. The custom-made vanity unit is practical and sleek, with ample storage space to keep everything organized. Together, they create a balanced whole.

The base consists of soft gray tones, warm white, and a touch of beige. Wood details and subtle brass accents bring warmth and a natural refinement. The floor continues for a calm rhythm, while the lightly textured wall behind the bathtub adds a touch of depth.
The lighting has also been carefully coordinated for different times of day: functional lighting by the mirror, subtle recessed spotlights, and softer lighting around the bathtub. This makes the space flexible, from morning routine to evening relaxation.

The result is a bright, balanced bathroom where every choice comes together in a soft, tranquil atmosphere.

This office was designed as a space that feels professional, yet remains soft and inviting. The goal was to create a space that is calming, functional, and has a subtly feminine feel. A room where you can retreat, have conversations, or concentrate on work—all in an environment that feels close to you.

The foundation is warm and calm. Linen curtains softly filter the light, while light wood, natural accents, and a round table create a relaxed rhythm in the space. Everything supports a sense of focus without becoming harsh.
A custom-made cabinet, designed specifically for this room, runs along one wall. A combination of open and closed sections, integrated lighting, and ample storage keeps everything organized. The design is sleek, yet the materials used maintain a warm and accessible feel.

The office is flexible: suitable for a video meeting, a one-on-one conversation, or a moment of focused work. The space adapts to the demands of the day. Calm, thoughtful, and completely unique—exactly as it was intended.

For this new-build house in Weesp, I was invited to contribute ideas early on in the process, allowing us to make choices from the outset that create a sense of calm and cohesion. The residents' wish was clear: a warm, complete home that immediately felt comfortable, without loose ends or doubts. By carefully coordinating the layout, lighting plan, and materials, a clear foundation was created.

The living room is bright and open, yet feels inviting thanks to the use of soft hues and natural materials. A custom-made TV stand beautifully complements the lines of the room, giving the interior a sense of calm. In the dining area, existing chairs were repositioned at a table that complements the overall design, creating a balance between familiar and new.
The kitchen aligns seamlessly with this. Matte white fronts, a soft stone-tone countertop, and warm wood accents combine to create a balanced space. During the day, the light is abundant; in the evening, it creates a tranquil atmosphere where everything falls into place. The materials were carefully chosen: linen, wood, natural stone, and wool give the home a pleasant tactility and contribute to the overall sense of calm. The ground floor feels complete, not because there's a lot of furniture, but because the choices were made with the same philosophy in mind. The result is a home with space, tranquility, and a relaxed energy—a place where you naturally feel at home.

This newly built bedroom was designed as a soft, warm place to truly relax. Because I was involved in the project from the very beginning, we were able to coordinate the lighting and electrical fixtures directly with the design. This allowed us to make the room function exactly as intended—practical, atmospheric, and perfectly balanced.
The foundation is calm and understated, with materials that naturally evoke a sense of warmth. The custom-made headboard forms the heart of the space: made of warm wood, with integrated lighting and rounded lines that give the room an embracing feel. It brings structure and softness simultaneously.

The custom-made wardrobe complements this perfectly. The wardrobes are completely custom-made, and I designed the fronts. This gives the space authenticity and immediately adds personality. This way, a newly built space, which is naturally very sleek, gains character.

The walls are painted in a warm, grayish shade. The linen curtains immediately create a comfortable space; they filter the light peacefully and create a relaxing atmosphere. All the colors and materials flow seamlessly together, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The lighting is layered—basic lighting, reading light, and mood lighting around the bed—making the room easily adaptable to the time of day. The styling is deliberately kept simple, with a few accessories and understated artwork. This creates a bedroom that exudes tranquility yet feels personal: a place where you automatically relax the moment you enter.

Apartment in Amsterdam East

For this rental apartment in Amsterdam-Oost, I designed an interior for an expat living in the Netherlands for a few years. The wish was clear: a calm, uncluttered space that immediately feels familiar, yet remains flexible enough for a temporary stay. Because it's a rental, walls and floors couldn't be altered. Therefore, the ambiance had to come entirely from the furniture, materials, and furnishings.

The design's foundation revolves around soft, neutral tones and warm woods, combined with shapes that create airiness and openness. Everything contributes to a pleasant whole, without anything becoming overly prominent.

The seating area is bright and uncluttered. Comfortable, airy furniture keeps the space open, while a low dresser along the wall adds calm and structure. The styling is deliberately understated: a subtle rug, a few accessories, and just the right amount of personal touches. The abundant natural light enhances the sense of calm.

Near the window, we created a subtle workspace—functional, but not overpowering. This space blends into the room, yet offers exactly what's needed for working or studying. The resident said: “I sit here more often than I thought, even if I just want to look out the window.”
A compact reading nook has been created at the back of the apartment, complete with an open shelving unit and a comfortable chair. Despite the limitations of a rental, this corner feels warm and personal and has become a favorite spot.

What's striking about this apartment is how small choices can have a big impact. The space remains bright and simple, yet feels distinctly personal. The result is a tranquil city apartment where an expat will quickly feel at home—practical for now, yet warm and inviting enough to truly settle in.

This Amsterdam canal-side home was completely renovated to create a peaceful, bright living environment. The residents, a couple of expats, wanted an interior that exudes tranquility but also invites people to come together: a place for daily life, guests, and dinners, without feeling crowded or cluttered.

We opted for a soft base of light wood, subdued colors, and natural materials. This combination gives the home an urban tranquility, while everything remains practical.
The kitchen is the heart of the home: open, uncluttered, and warm. Subtle fronts and a soft countertop create balance, while the layout invites lingering—at the table, the counter, or simply for a quick break.

In the sitting area, a fixed sofa against the wall and loose furniture create airiness and flexibility. The wooden floor and linen curtains create rhythm in the space. Art has been carefully chosen: present, but never overpowering.

Some of the furniture came from their previous home. By combining this with new custom work and a few targeted adjustments, an interior was created that feels personal yet looks fresh. The bookcase, the low bar, and the objects on the shelves give the whole a distinctive signature.

The home offers space for entertaining, but also feels like a place to retreat. Enjoy the morning light at the kitchen table, or relax with a book in the sitting area at the end of the day. During the process, the residents often said, "We can't wait to actually live here." Now they do—exactly as they envisioned.

Family home in Bussum

For this young family, moving from Amsterdam to Bussum marked a new chapter. After years in the city, they sought more space and tranquility and found a charming home full of character. The house had beautiful original features, but also presented a few challenges. One of these was the large ensuite door in the middle of the living room. While a beautiful detail, it unnecessarily disrupted the space. After careful consideration, we decided to remove it—a move that immediately brought airiness and cohesion.

The interior's foundation is light and warm, composed of natural white tones, an oak herringbone floor, and a rounded sofa in a soft fabric. The rounded shapes of the furniture and rug enhance the tranquility of the space. The stained glass adds color and character without making the overall space feel cluttered. The fireplace and firewood create a homely atmosphere that suits the family and their lifestyle.

The residents were looking for an interior that felt present but not overly styled: a place where life is lived and where their family can move freely. I incorporated this principle into all the choices, from materials to layout.

Because of the many windows, finding a logical layout was a puzzle, especially for the television. Ultimately, we opted for a custom-made unit that integrates the TV—a subtle solution that respects the symmetry of the room. The rounded shape complements the window beautifully and gives the space a soft, flowing line.
The kitchen creates a beautiful contrast with the living room: modern and sleek, with dark wood cabinets, a light-colored countertop, and handleless fronts. Black accents add a touch of depth to the space. Small artworks on the wall add a personal touch.

What made this project special was the collaboration. The residents were involved and knew exactly what atmosphere they were looking for. Together, we transformed this house into a home—bright, warm, and peaceful, a place that suits their daily lives and where everything comes together naturally.

Villa in Brabant

This spacious villa in Brabant presented a wonderful challenge: a house with varying heights, impressively high ceilings, and ample open space, yet lacking a clear sense of coherence. Sometimes you buy a house and become confused by the previous owners' interior; in this case, the interior was rustic and cluttered with many small items, making it difficult to see through it and come up with new ideas. I helped create a clear overview and visualize the possibilities of the spaces.

The existing kitchen was still of excellent quality, but its appearance didn't match the rest of the interior. Instead of a complete renovation, I opted for clever adjustments: a new countertop, a matching color for the backsplash and cabinets, and attractive bar stools, creating a pleasant breakfast area. The use of color really made a difference here and ensures that the kitchen now fits better into the overall look.

At the front of the house, there was a "blind spot," a place where nothing ever happened. We transformed this into a peaceful viewing area with two lounge chairs, facing the beautiful view of the Brabant countryside. This also gave this part of the house a clear purpose. The result is a home that now exudes peace, space, and balance, perfectly suited to the life of this young family.

Voor dit huis mocht ik meedenken aan een complete verbouwing. De woning had veel potentie, maar moest echt naar deze tijd worden gebracht. De bewoners vonden het lastig om onder woorden te brengen wat ze zelf mooi vonden, waardoor het traject vooral ging over samen ontdekken: wat past bij hen, wat voelt goed, wat maakt dit huis hun thuis? Door goed te luisteren en veel opties te verkennen, kreeg het ontwerp steeds meer richting.
De grootste verandering zat in de indeling. De gesloten keuken maakte plaats voor een open ruimte door de keukenmuur te verwijderen. Hierdoor ontstond lucht, licht en een fijn overzicht tussen koken, zitten en eten. Op basis hiervan ontwierp ik een nieuwe keuken — rustig, modern en in balans met de rest van het interieur.
Ook de vloer werd opnieuw gekozen: een lichte basis die de gehele verdieping optilt en het huis direct ruimtelijker maakt. Met deze fundering kon het ontwerp zich verder ontvouwen. Zachte kleuren, natuurlijke materialen en heldere lijnen zorgden voor rust, terwijl subtiele details de woning persoonlijker maakten.
De leefruimte is nu licht, open en uitnodigend. Alles sluit logisch op elkaar aan, zonder dat het strak of afstandelijk wordt. Het resultaat voelt als een frisse start: een huis dat klopt, en een interieur waarin de bewoners zich eindelijk herkennen.

For this villa in the Gooi region, I was asked to collaborate on an interior that blended two distinct tastes. The existing window treatments in soft beige tones were retained, providing a calm foundation upon which we could build. The residents each had their own style preferences: she favors an eclectic, slightly vintage look, while he feels more at home with a sleeker, Scandinavian approach. The challenge was to find a natural blend that felt right for both of them.
We started by selecting new dining chairs, including a beloved family heirloom that took pride of place within the overall design. By carefully coordinating materials, shapes, and colors, we created an interior that embodies both the personal and the timeless.
In each room, I considered what it needed to truly flourish: sometimes more warmth, sometimes more airiness, or simplicity. Through subtle choices in furniture, lighting, and accessories, the spaces now seamlessly connect without losing the residents' individual character. The result is a calm, modern base with playful vintage accents — a home where both styles complement rather than reinforce each other.

For this bedroom in the Gooi region, the desire was clear: a calm, warm space that feels comfortable from the moment you enter. A place that is bright, yet inviting. By working extensively with natural materials like oak, light curtains, and a soft rug, a tranquil base was created that immediately radiates warmth. The grain of the wood and the light textures of the upholstery give the room a relaxed rhythm, without feeling cluttered.
The character of the bedroom lies primarily in the back wall. Here, the vintage bedside tables, atmospheric lamps, and the deep blue hue come together. It creates a beautiful contrast with the light base and gives the room its own unique signature. The bedspread completes the look—subtle, yet just enough to give the space an inviting feel.

The result is a bedroom where tranquility and personality complement each other. A place where you can easily retreat and which, thanks to the customization and careful choices, is completely right for the residents.

For this B&B in Brabant, I was asked to brainstorm on a flexible interior: a holiday home for the family, which can be easily and comfortably rented out during breaks. The challenge was to create an atmosphere without major changes, as both the white walls and the existing floor had to remain. The design therefore had to be neutral, inviting, and vandal-proof—able to withstand a changing guest population, yet warm enough to feel like a personal space.

We chose furniture and furnishings that reflect the identity of the spaces. Soft fabrics, wooden details, and subtle hues create warmth, while the foundation remains light and calm. By using sustainable materials and sturdy finishes, everything retains its beauty, even with more intensive use.

The living room has a seating area that is easy to maintain, yet feels comfortable after a long day outdoors. In the dining area, a sturdy table with practical chairs creates a space where both the family and guests enjoy gathering. The whole has a homely feel without becoming overly personal.

In the bedrooms, we opted for neutral colors, comfortable beds, and durable textiles. Small accents, like lighting and accessories, add character without making it feel cluttered. This allows the spaces to remain flexible, suitable for both private and rental use.

The result is a holiday home that feels like a peaceful haven, yet is also practical for everyday use. An interior that transforms the emptiness of white walls into an inviting environment—purely through the right furniture, materials, and ambiance.

Restaurant Bomenpark

Restaurant Bomenpark is nestled in greenery, and you sense that immediately upon entering. Large windows, abundant light, and an interior that seamlessly blends in with its surroundings. The design is warm and open, with an atmosphere that feels just right—inviting, without being overbearing. I was involved in this project in several phases, allowing the interior to grow and refine step by step.

From the outset, the guiding principle was clear: to create a place where everyone feels comfortable. For morning coffee, a long lunch, or drinks with friends. The materials are natural and warm, the atmosphere relaxed yet refined. By working with different wood tones, soft fabrics, ceramics, and a color palette inspired by the outdoor landscape—grey-green, sand, warm wood, and black as an accent—the interior has a calming foundation that is always just right.

The seating is spacious and comfortable. Leather sofas in soft hues, chairs with rounded shapes, and tables that are slightly wider than usual. It feels open, but never empty; cozy, but not crowded. A loose mix of art and photography hangs along the walls—nature prints, line drawings, and understated images that breathe life into the space. Plants add height and a touch of life, without overwhelming the atmosphere.

At the heart of the restaurant is the bar. Robust, constructed of wood, steel, and stone. Above the bar, glasses and bottles float, both functional and beautiful. This enlivens the space while remaining in harmony with the rest of the interior.

Small details add warmth: bread boards on the shelves, logs by the fireplace, cushions on the sofas. No excess, but carefully chosen elements that give the space character.

What makes this project special is how everything comes together. The interior feels inviting and tranquil, with enough personality to truly fit Bomenpark. A place where you're drawn to linger—exactly the atmosphere we've been working towards in every phase.

Restaurant Bistro Louis

For Bistro Louis, I was asked to design a completely new space that initially lacked any character. The goal was an interior with a timeless feel—a blend of Parisian and old Dutch, warm enough to dine for entire evenings and cozy enough to instantly feel at ease. Because the base was so neutral, the emphasis was on customization and the choice of materials to define the restaurant's soul.

We opted for a lot of wood, both in the walls and furniture, which immediately gave the space warmth and depth. Custom-made benches, wood paneling, and a carefully designed bar create rhythm and a clear structure in the interior. Everything was designed to last without losing any of its charm.

A large wine cabinet is one of the most important elements in the space. Here, bottles and glasses are given a prominent place—not hidden, but visible, as part of the experience. It fits the atmosphere of long dinners, good conversations, and evenings that unfold slowly.
The combination of soft lighting, rounded shapes, and natural materials creates an intimate atmosphere without overshadowing the overall ambiance. The interior has a familiar feel, as if it's always been there, yet feels fresh and contemporary.

Bistro Louis has become a place where people love to linger: warm, inviting, and with a timeless feel that perfectly complements the cuisine and the restaurant's rhythm.

For Bar 15 in Brabant, I was asked to transform a characterless building into a traditional pub with a contemporary twist. The interior had to feel warm, inviting, and a touch nostalgic, but with a contemporary feel. Because the project was realized on a budget, it required a different approach than usual: creative shuffling, smart selection, and extensive use of vintage pieces.

The use of secondhand furniture required a unique selection process. Chairs, tables, and accessories were all chosen for their character and durability. Precisely because nothing matches perfectly, that creates that relaxed, authentic atmosphere that suits a modern neighborhood pub so well. The combination of old wood, weathered materials, and new custom work gives the bar a layered quality you won't easily find in a new-build home.

The starting point was to infuse the sleek, new shell with warmth and soul. Dark hues, soft lighting, and vintage accents create intimacy, while modern elements keep the overall look fresh. The bar itself forms the heart of the space: sturdy, functional, and with plenty of space to relax without looking heavy.

By consciously playing with contrasts—new and old, dark and light, raw and refined—Bar 15 has become a place where you quickly feel at ease. A bar that has a familiar feel, yet remains contemporary. The result is a friendly, inviting space where people enjoy drinks every day.

I designed the ground floor and workspace of their new-build home in Weespersluis for Nicky, Mischa, and their children. As a young family, they left Amsterdam for more light, space, and tranquility, and they were looking for an interior that would enhance this new chapter.

We opted for a light, calm base that emphasizes the natural light and provides a clear overview of the living space. By clearly structuring the layout, we created zones for cooking, playing, working, and relaxing—each with its own function, yet still integrated into a cohesive whole.

A special element is the workroom: an intimate place to receive clients, work or retreat for a while.

With warm materials, soft colors, and subtle details, the living space feels open but never empty; warm, but never crowded. It's a home perfectly suited to a young family seeking more space without sacrificing a calm, stylish foundation.
